Animal Care Technician
As an Animal Care Technician for our Toxicology team for our site located in the city of Sherbrooke (QC), you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of the animals and the integrity of our pre‑clinical studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the cleanliness of the living environment of the animals according to the highest standards of welfare in the industry.
- Assist the technicians in their daily tasks.
- Handle animals.
- Participate in the physical/social activities of the animals.
Qualifications
- Able to follow precise instructions.
- Being able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.).
- Understanding of written English.
- Passionate about animals.
- High School Diploma (DES) required. Having an AEP in Animal Care is an asset.
Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company.
Job Specific Information
- Transportation: Easily accessible using Sherbrooke’s public transit system. Free parking. Electric vehicle charging station.
- Salary: Starting at 19.00$/hrs. Opportunity to start at higher level and higher salary with specific research experience.
- Schedule: Full time, permanent position (37.5 hours/week). Depending on the needs, you may have to do overtime. Weekend work (rotation) and bonus ($2.75/hour).

About Safety Assessment
Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state‑of‑the‑art facilities and expert regulatory guidance. From individual specialty toxicology and IND enabling studies to tailored packages and total laboratory support, our deeply experienced team can design and execute programs that anticipate challenges and avoid roadblocks for a smooth, efficient journey to market. Each year approximately 300 investigational new drug (IND) programs are conducted in our Safety Assessment facilities.
