The Activities Lead plans and delivers wellness programs for over 200 Independent Living and Assisted Living Residents at Shannon Oaks and Clarendon Court. This role ensures activities foster community, meet individual needs, and promote holistic wellness.

About The Role

As the Activities Lead at Baptist Housing, you will play a key role in creating a vibrant and supportive community for residents. You will lead the planning and delivery of engaging activities and programs, foster meaningful relationships, and ensure the holistic wellness of residents. Additionally, you’ll provide mentorship to two activity team members, manage department budgets, and uphold health and safety standards in all aspects of your work.

5. Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging events including external outings.
6. Design and implement activity programs tailored to resident needs.
7. Create and distribute monthly activity calendars and newsletters.
8. Meet with residents to develop and adjust personalized activity plans.
9. Foster connections within the community and collaborate with external agencies.
10. Mentor team members and work with the volunteer coordinator to ensure activities and programs are adequately supported.
11. Administration/Health & Safety
12. With the support of the Administrator, manage department budgets and track expenditures.
13. Promote a culture of health and safety and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
14. Professional Development
15. Participate in relevant conferences and training to enhance your skills.

This role allows you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of residents by creating an engaging, supportive, and safe environment.

Requirements

1. Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation is preferred, or an Activities Program Certificate.
2. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
3. Minimum of two years of recent experience coordinating recreation programs for seniors.
4. Food Safe certification.
5. Valid Class 4 (unrestricted) driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract.

We offer a competitive compensation package, featuring an hourly wage range of $28.00 - $30.00. Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with a generous four weeks of vacation. Additionally, we provide RRSP matching contributions and support for your ongoing professional development.
