Our client is a leader in the Greater Toronto Area for the supply and repair of hydraulic equipment. They are seeking a skilled
general machinist to grow their hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair business unit.

Job Description

1. Performing machining tasks by using engineering sketches or verbal instructions
2. Computing dimensions within tolerances to lay out work for fabrication
3. Making precision measurements using precision measuring instruments and techniques
4. Disassembly and assembly of components, fit aligning and adjusting components to precise tolerances
5. Setting up jigs, fixtures or machine attachments required for complex precision parts and equipment
6. Determining tooling requirements, setup procedures and control settings based on requirements
7. Lathe, mill, grinder operation
8. Usage of material handling equipment
9. Inspects work pieces at beginning of and throughout production run to ensure part meets tolerance requirements
10. Inspects and understands when to replace cutting tools
11. Demonstrates ability to effectively use all necessary measuring tools in order to assure conformance to print
12. Maintain a safe working environment and good housekeeping practices
13. Works effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
14. Flexibility and communication skills are very important
15. Works well in a team as well as independently

Qualifications

1. Community college graduation plus completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program and Ontario Machinist Certificate of Qualification
2. Thorough knowledge of machining methods and shop mathematics
3. Ability to compute dimensions, tapers, cutting angles, tool settings, feed rates and machine speeds
4. Ability to operate manual equipment with a minimum of three years of experience
5. Ability to multitask
6. English verbal and written communication
7. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible work schedules as needed
