As a social worker, your mission is to support our residents and their families and improve their well-being and social functioning. Reporting to the Center Director, you will work closely with members of the interdisciplinary team.

Your daily routine

Overseeing various social services: Assume responsibility for a set of social services based on the psychosocial needs of the clientele.

Creating action plans: Create action plans following a methodical approach and based on scientific principles.

Executing and evaluating action or rehabilitation plans: Implement action plans targeting complex psychosocial issues or involving various biopsychosocial dimensions.

Involving and raising awareness among the user’s relatives: Actively engage and inform the user’s family members, as well as the surrounding community, about any recent developments.

Promote Portage’s program through community presentations: Onsite visits and telephone calls to potential community partners. Build lasting relationships with relevant stakeholders, partners, organizations, and individuals.

Guiding residents towards appropriate resources: Have an in-depth knowledge of the available resources in the community and provide relevant advice to help residents access the services they need.

Interpreting and applying relevant rules and laws: Understand and apply the regulations and laws that govern Portage’s field of activity at all times.

Participating in development or research projects: Be involved in initiatives aimed at developing new ideas and services or conducting research to meet specific customer needs.

Stimulating interest and participation among residents: Actively encourage residents to participate in various planned activities.

Ensuring that resident documents and records are completed according to Portage standards: Verify the quality of content and accuracy of information.

Maintaining close relations with various players involved in residents’ files: Proactively managing various aspects related to residents by collaborating with other professionals and family members.

Developing new clinical activities: Participate in creating or improving detailed and strategic plans for clinical activities. Organize and facilitate groups and meetings to match the needs of participants. Contributes to the development of their treatment/intervention plan.

Related tasks: Perform other tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.

Your experiences

University degree in Social Worker, Psychoeducation, Psychologist, or any other related field

Member NBASW

Experience with a clientele with substance use disorders in a community setting or therapeutic community

Good Knowledge of Provincial laws and standards of the therapeutic community

Good communication skills in English (spoken and written) French (asset)

Demonstrated teamwork skill, autonomy and organizational skills

Experience in crisis management and appropriate assistance

Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Your schedule and benefits

Job Type: permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday – Day shift

Salary: to be discussed according to experience
