As a Second or Third Year Apprentice Mechanic, you’ll play an active role in maintaining and repairing a range of light and/or heavy-duty trucks in a dynamic shop environment. Working under the supervision of certified Mechanic, you'll be expected to carry out diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and component replacements with increasing independence. This position is ideal for candidates progressing through their apprenticeship program, looking to deepen their technical skills and gain exposure to advanced systems and repair techniques.

Duties

- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles/equipment, including oil changes, brake jobs, and fluid checks.
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing mechanical issues and executing complex repairs.
- Use mechanical knowledge and critical thinking to identify problems.
- Inspect and test machinery, engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete work orders.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and used correctly.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members about job status and potential issues.

Qualifications

- Enrolled in or successfully completed 2nd or 3rd year of a registered apprenticeship in Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or related trade.
- Minimum of 1–3 years hands-on experience in a mechanical shop environment.
- Proficient in the use of basic and intermediate hand and power tools.
- Understanding of vehicle/equipment systems: engines, brakes, hydraulics, suspensions, electrical, etc.
- Basic ability to interpret technical manuals.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Must possess or be willing to acquire a basic set of personal hand tools.
