Join our team and learn how you can contribute to our "Innovation Inside" Duties & Responsibilities The material handler reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring all production equipment is supplied with necessary materials. They also maintain cleanliness on the plant floor and follow proper procedures during cleanup, including keeping machines free of spilled plastic pellets. The material handler's tasks within the moulding area include: - Establishing an efficient route between machines, grinding area, material storage, warehouse, and assembly areas to anticipate material needs. - Advising the supervisor of any unattended or incomplete tasks. - Ensuring all items are properly identified before conveyance; reporting any unmarked items. - Using FIFO (first in, first out) for material consumption. - Keeping machine hoppers full, covered, and grinders emptied. - Familiarity with all resin types used and verifying the correct material per operation instructions or setup sheets. - Blending colour concentrates as needed. - Maximizing regrind consumption in moulding processes. - Covering and identifying all hoppers and dryers with proper Material ID tags. - Prompt grinding and periodic emptying of grinder buckets. - Storing virgin and regrind materials separately and covering them. - Returning unused materials to inventory. - Communicating with the next shift for upcoming tasks and mould changes. - Reporting low inventory levels to avoid shortages. - Breaking down empty gaylords. - Scanning all products before moving to the warehouse. - Removing and storing packaging components when not running. - Removing garbage from the cell before shift end. Raw Material Change - Turning off the loader to stop material feed. - Draining remaining material and cleaning the loader or dryer before next use. - Reassembling and updating the material ID and log sheets. Cleaning of Grinders - Turning off and unplugging the grinder, then locking out the main disconnect. - Removing remaining regrind and cleaning the grinder with vacuum. - Disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling blades and screens. - Sweeping and cleaning the grinder area. - Restoring power and readiness for operation. The above list outlines the main daily responsibilities of the role. Minimum Qualifications - Grade 12 education, material handling, or injection molding experience. Required Skills - Forklift handling. - Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to the job. - Experience with forms, tags, and labels.
