Venor is proud to partner with Truefoam to hire a Plant Manager to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
We are seeking a highly driven Plant Manager with a strong technical foundation and a passion for operational excellence. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, champions continuous improvement, and isn’t afraid to drive meaningful change.
For over 50 years, Truefoam has been a trusted leader in the manufacturing of high‑performance insulation and building materials across Atlantic Canada. Known for their commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, Truefoam’s products are designed to deliver superior energy efficiency and durability in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of integrity, safety, and teamwork, where every employee plays a part in building better, more energy‑efficient communities.
What you’ll be doing
The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of the Dartmouth facility. Beyond day‑to‑day oversight, this role carries a mandate to reimagine, redesign, and restructure the plant’s operations, systems, and culture to fuel the next phase of Truefoam’s growth.
As the central catalyst for strategic transformation, the Plant Manager will drive operational excellence, raise performance standards, and foster a culture rooted in accountability and continuous improvement. This is a unique opportunity to directly shape the future of a well‑established Atlantic Canadian manufacturer—enhancing its capabilities today while positioning the organization for scalable, long‑term success.
- Operational Leadership: Direct and lead all daily production activities, ensuring output consistently meets safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Planning & Resource Management: Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet demanding customer needs while strategically optimizing labour, materials, and equipment.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage plant budgets (including maintenance, labour, and materials) and develop thoughtful capital expenditure and expansion proposals.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion a best‑in‑class safety culture and ensure rigorous compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards.
- Quality Assurance: Partner closely with the Quality Assurance team to uphold high product standards, quickly resolve non‑conformances, and maintain Truefoam’s reputation for quality.
- Organizational Change & Process Re‑Engineering: Serve as the internal consultant and leader for systemic process re‑engineering efforts. Lead the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma principles not just for incremental gain, but to fundamentally redesign workflows and organizational structure to unlock new levels of performance.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor, coach, and develop plant personnel, fostering a positive, accountable, and high‑performing work environment.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Act as the key liaison between operations and the broader business (Sales, Administration, Senior Leadership) to ensure production goals are aligned with market demand and strategic objectives.
What We’re Looking For
As the ideal candidate, you hold a degree or diploma in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, or possess an equivalent blend of education and relevant experience. We are looking for a leader with strong communication, organizational, and team‑building abilities, supported by a proven track record of elevating performance, engagement, and accountability across production teams. Expertise in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is a significant asset. Current—or immediately attainable—WHMIS and comprehensive safety training are required. Ultimately, we are searching for a results‑oriented, decisive, and analytical leader committed to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the Dartmouth facility.
At Venor and Truefoam, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, what you believe in, or who you love, we welcome your application. We all come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, bringing in unique perspectives and experiences. We encourage applications from 2SLGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC), women, newcomers to Canada, and people with disabilities.
We welcome applications from leaders who share our commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. If you’re excited by the chance to make a lasting impact, we look forward to hearing from you. Contact Erika Hildebrand via erika@venor.ca.
