Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Chemist operates in accordance with b est practices, policies, procedure and a pplicable acts and regulations. The successful candidate will have strong decision making and leadership skills and will be a hardworking individual with a keen eye for detail. You are a resourceful and creative problem solver that shows initiative, able to work individually as well as in a team environment, a quick learner and are adaptable to different situations. You also have an ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment , are highly o rganized a nd a fast learner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures following good laboratory practices;
- Operate and maintain instruments and equipment, primarily using HPLC and GCMS ;
- Collaborate to enhance techniques for the analysis of cannabis via HPLC and GCMS
- Follow Organigram’s GPPs/GMPs, SOPs and Cannabis Act;
- Interpret and report results;
- Help develop and validate methods and equipment;
- Design protocol and conduct process validation studies;
- Design protocol and conduct product stability testing;
- Manage testing consumables supply inventory;
- Assist with development and training of standard operating procedures (SOP’s), work instructions, etc.;
- Other tasks as required to pivot with business needs.
Qualifications:
- B Sc degree in Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry, or related degree at minimum;
- Must have HPLC experience; GCMS experience would be an asset
- Previous experience in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment (preferably food or pharmaceuticals), GLP, GMP;
- Energetic, career minded professional, a focus on solutions and a commitment to outstanding performance;
- Quick learner with ability to work in a fast paced & changing environment;
- Numerical and analytical ability;
- Work independently and as a team and with a sense of urgency;
- A logical and independent mind;
- The motivation and ability to solve complex problems, takes initiative & follows through;
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical techniques;
- Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse group and within a team environment;
- Proven ability to deliver to specific deadlines;
- Strong Communication (written and verbal) skills;
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure
