Responsibilities
- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
- Ensure all work aligns with WHMIS, and other regulatory and safety standards.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting all plant process, blow molding, packaging, filling equipment as well as maintenance of the building within an automated and semi automated environment (blow molders, conveyors, palletizers, mixers, grinders, form fill seal, Panel Boards, PLCs).
- Install, commission, and maintain electrical equipment across low and medium voltage systems.
- Provide support to the process and packaging equipment breakdowns and carry out preventive maintenance projects.
- Perform control system integration, including loop checks, startup, and commissioning of automated systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and control components.
- Ensure all installations and repairs are code-compliant and documented in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of construction, maintenance activities, testing procedures, and inspections.
- Work safely around energized electrical and control systems in industrial environments, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Complete and document work orders, inventory usage, and labor hours using a CMMS.
- Execute comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Ensure all work aligns with HACCP, WHMIS, and other regulatory and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, within the scope of training and qualifications.
Qualifications
- Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes. Ability to read and understand complex diagrams. Capable of MOS leadership skills combined with team player attitude.
- Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices. Ability to read and understand complex piping diagrams and mechanical drawings. Objective judgment and fact based decision making approach. Strong multi-tasking competency.
- Licensed Industrial Electrician with proven experience in manufacturing and/or process industries.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical trades, with the ability to support cross-functional maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems, including automated and integrated equipment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), equipment manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Comprehensive understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
- In-depth knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, application, maintenance, and repair procedures.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate alternative solutions and implement effective corrective actions.
- Skilled in selecting and applying appropriate training and instructional methods for both personal development and mentoring others.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP, with the ability to navigate and utilize the system for daily maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain respectful, constructive, and cooperative working relationships across departments.
- Excellent comprehension of verbal and written communication, with the ability to process and act on technical information effectively.
- Proven capacity to maintain focus and attention to detail over extended periods, ensuring accuracy and safety in all tasks.
Education and Experience
- Dual Ticket – Electrician/Millwright
- 5 years production/line machine maintenance experience
- Line maintenance within a manufacturing production environment preferred
Working Conditions
- Physical - Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.
- Shift - This shift will be a night shift from 10PM - 6AM 5 days per week (it is eligible for a $3.00/hour shift premium)
- Visual/Sensory - This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work environment - Work and environment are very repetitive.
- Mental Stress - There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
