About the Role
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Reporting to the Manager of Surgical Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health‑care team, you will practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family‑centred care, mission, vision, values, and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College.
- Current certification in BCLS.
- Recent knowledge in Surgical Nursing with experience caring for pre‑ and postoperative surgical patients with TPN.
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery.
- Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurses when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected.
- Identifies and recognises abnormal or unexpected patient responses and takes appropriate action.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions.
- Strong interprofessional and communication skills.
- Central Venous Line Management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or recent continuing education in Surgical Nursing.
- Certification in Wound Care.
Salary Range
$40,240 to $57,680.
