Project Description: Large underground mine in Nunavut and in northern Ontario.
Under the supervision of the mechanic foreman, the Heavy Equipment Technician performs mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance and repair work on underground heavy equipment and other mobile equipment in our clients' underground facilities and/or in the field.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure preventive maintenance on heavy vehicles
- Determine the nature of defects and failures and make recommendations on the type and extent of repairs to be carried out
- Perform repair reports with the identifications of the breakages causes
- Adjust, repair and/or replace defective parts in respect of the highest quality standards, using hand and power tools
- Test repaired equipment to ensure repairs meet requirements
- Read plans and diagrams to determine how to proceed
- Validate and follow up on parts availability
- Any other related tasks
Job Requirements:
- Mechanical trade certification or equivalent experience
- Red seal certification is an asset
- Underground Common Core Certification (asset)
- 3+ years working on Heavy Underground Mining Equipment
