Responsibilities and Expectations:

1. Provide strategic governance to the organization, ensuring that its mission, vision, and values are upheld.
2. Attend all Board meetings and participate independently and knowledgeably in deliberations.
3. Operate with integrity and credibility, demonstrating a passion for improving the lives of individuals that we serve.
4. Enhance the organization’s public image.
5. Lead and support fundraising efforts and resource development.
6. Ensure strong fiduciary oversight, risk mitigation, financial management, and growth strategies.
7. Assess the Board's performance as the governing body of Choices Association Inc.
8. Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for Choices to advance its mission.
9. Abide by the by-laws, code of conduct, and other policies that apply to the Board.

What we are looking for:

1. A commitment to Choices Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Strategic plan.
2. Skills and expertise in one or more areas listed above.
3. Ability to understand the financial position of the organization as presented in its financial statements.
4. Knowledge of the developmental services sector and leverage personal connections and networks to develop collective action to achieve our mission.
5. Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to strategic discussions.
6. A willingness to attend board meetings, participate in committees, and advocate for our programs.
7. Previous Board governance experience is considered an asset.

- Human Resources
- Lawyers/Legal professionals
- Strategic Planning and Governance
- Community Engagement
- Marketing and Communications

Strong understanding of the role of governance in advancing social, economic, and health outcomes grounded from an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens.
