Role: Treasury Business Analyst
Reports to: Manager, Corporate Finance & Treasury
Status: Full‑Time, Regular
Department: Finance
Location: Markham (Birchmount)
Summary
As a Treasury Business Analyst, you will be a key member of the treasury team, performing data-driven analysis and offering insights that are critical to decisions around how financial resources are managed and allocated. In addition to being a member of the Treasury team, this role will also have the opportunity to provide support to other areas of finance by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to uncover insights, and will regularly interact with other stakeholders across the business, including Product and Marketing, Business Development, and Customer Experience and Operations. The Treasury Business Analyst will be a detail‑oriented individual and critical thinker focused on equipping management with analysis that links business performance to financial metrics and cash flow analysis.
Responsibilities
- Use data-driven analysis to understand and explain company-wide financial results with reference to underlying business drivers
- Leverage analytics to explain performance to key stakeholders and inform future forecasts
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models
- Participate in evaluating business needs and identifying opportunities for data-driven improvements
- Assist in preparation of monthly lender reporting process and ad-hoc financial analysis with automation of key data-driven processes, where possible
- Assist in gathering, validating, and organizing data from various sources including Azure SQL databases and Excel
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in business operations
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness in reports and dashboards
- Develop and maintain SQL and Python automations to support monthly reporting requirements
- Document current workflows and identify inefficiencies through data and stakeholder input
- Support process improvement initiatives and automation efforts
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards that provide centralized and real-time view of key financial metrics, streamlining monthly reporting and enhancing decision-making across the organization
- Work closely with business teams to understand reporting and data needs
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in Python and SQL for data analysis and automation
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking – you always seek out the “why” behind the data, and not only the “what”
- Hands‑on experience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker is an asset
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience working with databases, warehouses, and data lakes in Azure SQL DB
- Understanding of ETL processes, including data extraction, transformation, and loading across cloud and on‑prem environments
- Ability to interpret financial data to understand and identify trends, assess commercial impacts, and communicate results with reference to broader corporate strategy
