This is the most exciting time in the history of cancer research and care.
We are on the cusp of true transformation. Cancer is the world’s biggest health crisis, and the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF)—the fundraising partner of BC Cancer- is positioned to lead the charitable sector and drive health care transformation to elevate cancer care for all British Columbians and beyond.
With over 90 employees working across five sites in B.C., and annual revenue of over $100 million, we are one of the largest non-profit organizations in B.C. We engage with over 100,000 donors and communities to inspire philanthropic investment in BC Cancer, partner with some of the world’s leading researchers, oncologists, care providers, and are governed by a Board of Directors leading in the community.
At the BC Cancer Foundation, we are a professional, passionate, and positive team who believe that we can help make a difference in the lives of all British Columbians and bring us closer to a world free from cancer.
We are driven by a collective purpose to be a catalyst, powering world-class innovation while supporting deeply personal cancer patient journeys.
About the Opportunity:
As part of our five-year strategic plan, the BC Cancer Foundation is undertaking a bold business transformation to increase philanthropic impact, modernize operations, and enhance donor engagement through data and technology.
We are seeking a strategic, future-ready VP, Business Intelligence and Technology to partner with Senior Leadership and help drive this transformation and beyond and establish best-in-class technology and data governance across the organization.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the VP, Business Intelligence and Technology will be responsible for defining and executing the Foundation’s business intelligence and IT strategy—including data architecture, enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, AI, and analytics. This senior leadership role will shape our digital future and empower a data-driven culture across the Foundation.
The VP, Business Intelligence and Technology will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and lead a growing team of data and IT professionals to deliver secure, scalable, and integrated solutions that support fundraising, donor experience, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative, and solution-oriented leader with a passion for innovation, data, and transformation. You bring a mix of business acumen, technical expertise, and change and people leadership, and thrive in mission-driven environments where your work contributes to real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Technology Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology and data strategy aligned with BCCF’s strategic goals and business transformation roadmap.
- Lead the modernization of enterprise platforms and infrastructure to support fundraising and donor engagement across multiple channels.

- Oversee the implementation of policies, controls, and modernized data platforms to drive enterprise-wide adoption of data stewardship practices.
- Ensure data privacy and compliance through ethical data practices and robust security protocols.
- Determine the integration and application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation to streamline operations, personalize donor engagement, and optimize fundraising campaigns.
- Evaluate and pilot emerging AI technologies—such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, and recommendation engines—that can enhance donor experience and decision-making.
- Foster an innovation culture that embraces responsible and ethical AI use across departments.
- Direct enterprise IT operations including cloud services, CRM (Blackbaud), CMS, marketing automation, and internal support systems.
- Oversee cybersecurity and risk management strategies to protect data assets and maintain operational resilience.

- Develop a roadmap for business intelligence tools that enhance operational performance, campaign measurement, donor segmentation, and revenue forecasting.
- Ensure alignment of data and analytics efforts with key functional priorities across development, finance, and marketing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Change Leadership
- Collaborate with business leaders and cross-functional teams to define and deliver short- and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Lead organizational transformation through systems modernization, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Present strategic progress and impact to senior executives and board members.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of technology and data professionals.
- Establish clear goals, accountability frameworks, and a culture of learning and innovation.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and partnerships with external providers and technology platforms.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, data management, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (PMP, ITIL, CDO, or CIO credentials) are strong assets.
- Minimum of 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in digital strategy, technology infrastructure, or data governance, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
