Job Summary:
The Field Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance activities related to mobile equipment. This role ensures optimal equipment availability, reliability, and performance through effective maintenance planning, parts procurement, and coordination with maintenance and operations teams.
Responsibilities
General:
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term maintenance strategies for fixed and/or mobile equipment based on manufacturer guidelines, regulatory guidelines, inspections, and historical data.
- Effectively communicate short- and long-term maintenance strategies with all relevant stakeholders.
- Schedule preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance work orders using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and operations to minimize equipment downtime and align maintenance with production schedules.
- Coordinate availability of parts, tools, and labor prior to planned maintenance activities.
- Monitor and control maintenance backlog to ensure critical work is prioritized and addressed timely.
- Review completed work orders for accuracy, efficiency, and improvement opportunities.
- Understanding of the basic principles of SCM (Supply Chain Management), as per relates to material availability, WO scheduling & prioritization.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, maintenance history, and work order documentation.
- Track and analyze equipment performance data and reliability KPIs to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during maintenance planning and execution.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for the mobile maintenance team.
- Create / Maintain BOM’s (Bill of Materials) for all assets within your assigned scope, ensuring alignment with current maintenance strategies and supporting efficient work order planning for assets under your scope.
- Assist with Redpath Contractor(s) management by supporting reporting and cost tracking related to work orders, ensuring accurate allocation of contractor charges and alignment with project budgets.
Health and Safety:
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
- Responsible for the use of all safety equipment, i.e. lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to Company rules and applicable legislation and ensures the proper use of personal protective equipment
Qualifications
Education
- Education: Technical diploma, trade certification, or degree in mechanical, industrial, or maintenance engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, preferably with heavy or mobile equipment.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and heavy equipment operation and repair.
- Software Skills: Proficient in CMMS (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), MS Office, and Excel.

- Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, and targets
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written
- Asset Management knowledge/experience
- Extensive technical/mechanical knowledge of mining equipment and techniques
- High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy
- Effective and creative thinker and problem solver
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
