Systems Field Technician – Victoria or Lower Mainland, BC

Overview

To specialize in the installation, operation, and maintenance of dewatering, water treatment and vapour mitigation systems at project sites locally and across Canada.

Responsibilities

- Review site drawings to understand and implement system installations

- Cut, assemble, and install piping for dewatering, water treatment, and vapour systems

- Assemble and disassemble components for systems (tanks, pumps, valves, media vessels, filter vessels, manifolds, mounting brackets, and hosing)

- Complete regular inspections of treatment systems, including equipment maintenance and compliance sampling

- Troubleshoot dewatering/treatment systems issues and repair plumbing and equipment problems

- Assist with mobilization of equipment and chemicals (load, unload, prep components, operate material handling equipment, manage chemical inventory) from VEI facilities and partners

- Work at a variety of project sites including industrial facilities, commercial or residential construction sites, utility installations, and mining sites

- Work on project sites across Canada (accommodations and meal per diem provided when working outside of home geographical area)

- Assist other divisions as required and work safely in accordance with VEI workplace health & safety procedures

Qualifications & Requirements

- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Water Treatment Technician, preferably with modular and construction dewatering systems

- Technical diploma in an environmental field, a trade ticket (plumbing, well technician, wastewater, etc.) or equivalent experience

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with Heavy Trailer Endorsement and insurability

- Willing and able to travel

- Training certificates (e.g., First Aid, Working at Heights, Forklift) are an asset

- Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification is not required but considered an asset

- Mechanical aptitude and experience with plumbing tools and piping methods

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

- Ability to work well independently and in a team

- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
