**Powell Foundations is an asset beyond Shoring and Foundation services.**

We are looking for a co-op student in assisting the estimation team in job estimates by carrying out take offs, reading construction drawings and specifications. They will be participating in data collection and analysis in visiting to active job sites; preparing estimate report with current and historical data.

**Term**

Start in January, 2025 for 4 - 8 months

**Main Responsibilities**
- Conducting site visits and preparing production reports.
- Data analysis of historical bids, runic projects financial efficiency, variation of estimates against actual costs.
- Preparing GIS based map showcasing geotechnical information from historical projects.
- Review tender/bid documents and create bid packages which reflect all resources required.
- Assist estimators to read proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Download, interpret and analyze tender documents, plans, drawings, specifications
- Prepare takeoff of scope of work.
- Assist estimators in preparing full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work.
- Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
- Assist Estimators in presenting estimates and conduct review meetings
- Participate and coordinate company risk and opportunity evaluation
- Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
- Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Review and establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts.
- Others estimating duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Suitable for student enrolled in accredited post secondary education in Engineering, geology, Civil Technician, civil technology, etc.
- Advanced knowledge in MS office, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge with GIS software will be considered an asset.
- Ability to analyze and process mathematical data to find trends and/ or prepare reports for Management.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and tender plans for various types of road projects.
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision
- Must be organized and accountable
- Thrives in a high-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
