The **Child Care Consultant** (full-time contract position) will deliver a range of child focused prevention and early intervention consultation and direct services to promote the optimum functioning of the child, aged birth to 12, within the child care environment, through the provision of training, coaching and consultation for early childhood educators, parents and community professionals

Salary range:_** _$54,926.26 to $63,962.43 per annum_

This position is represented by OPSEU local 567.

This is a full-time 6 months contract position.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Collaborate with the child care program team and families to develop individualized plans/goals and carry out strategies and adaptations to children with extra support needs.
- Gather and assess information to understand how to respond to service requests for programs, through observations of the program area, discussions and specialized assessments, such as an environmental assessment.
- Provide training to increase the knowledge and understanding of child development to child care staff and families that support practices to ensure the inclusion and optimal growth of children/the child in the childcare setting.
- Accurately documents and maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with Organizational policies and recoding guidelines; actively participate in implementing the agency’s policy on health and safety as part of an effective health and safety program
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the agency and other community partners to coordinate and integrate services. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with child care centres, other related service providers and funders
- Be responsible for performing their work in a safe manner and adhering to the established health and safety measures and practices of the Centre.
- Other duties as assigned

**THE “MUST HAVES”**

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

- Community College diploma In Early Childhood Education or similar Community College Diploma
- Special Needs Resource Certificate, or similar certificate / diploma
- 2 years of relevant experience in working with infants, toddlers, preschool and school aged children are required.
- Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
- An understanding of Anti-Black Racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health when working with clients and their families.
- Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of and imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts for the client.

**THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’**
- Knowledge of the mission, mandate, objectives, strategic priorities, policies, guidelines, standards and organization of Strides and the various departments.
- Knowledge of the community served by the Agency; and a demonstrated understanding of access and equity issues; and awareness and sensitivity to diversity in the workplace and within the community are required.
- Knowledge of City of Toronto’s-Children’s Service
- Every Child Belongs model
- Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
- Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
- Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
