**THE ROLE**

**Position: Controller**

**Reports to**:Chief Financial Officer

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Using extremely well-developed professional skills, the key responsibilities will include**:
**Management**
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team.
- Management of the overall accounting functions of the accounting team, ensuring the highest possible level of efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain/enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Evaluate and improve corporate internal control processes and procedures.

**Transactions**
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely/accurate manner
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Process executive payroll in a timely/accurate manner
- Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed in a timely/accurate manner
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

**Reporting**
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Manage the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Work collaboratively with other departments within CNS to meet their strategic and financial objectives through the provision of regular reporting and cost analysis

**Education Requirements (Minimum Requirements)**:

- CPA Designation
- 5+ years’ experience leading and managing a finance team in a corporate environment.
- 5+ years’ financial management/Controller experience, or an acceptable equivalent of combined education and experience
