Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance, the Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair activities associated with all Cool Aid Shelter facilities. This position works closely with several other departments and ensures timely response and clear communication between all parties. Strong communication and administrative skills are a key requirement of the role.

A narrow selection of the larger scope and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

- Oversee suite repairs and clean-up in preparation for new tenant move-ins.
- Work proactively with the entire Shelter team to ensure timely and appropriate placement of tenants into vacant units.
- Participate in decisions regarding suite expenditures.
- Oversee facility janitorial program to ensure facility cleanliness.
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all building systems and devices including plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, fire safety, security, and elevators.
- Determine when work orders exceed the scope of the staff’s ability to respond and when necessary, coordinates repairs through third party vendors.
- Ensure that work orders and service requests are completed in a courteous, timely, and efficient manner with mínimal disruption to program operations and to an acceptable standard of quality.
- Develop and carry out inspection and maintenance programs that ensure ongoing safety, longevity, cleanliness, and appearance of all Shelter properties.
- Direct and/or perform inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, cleaning and landscaping work on interior and exterior of buildings.
- Works with staff to ensure preventative maintenance completion such as annual fire safety testing.
- Respond to emergencies as necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of buildings, possessing a thorough knowledge of each building’s location of power, water, gas shutoffs.
- Coordinate emergency repair and remediation; assisting with insurance claims.
- Abide by and ensure staff and contractor comprehension of all health and safety requirements.
- Daily supervision of all Shelter maintenance related contractors, vendors, staff.
- Participates in hiring and recruitment of maintenance and janitorial staff.
- Establish daily work assignments for maintenance and janitor workers. Follow up on work assignments for efficient and thorough completion.
- Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records and filing system.
- Develop and maintain an inventory tracking system for small equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Review inventory levels on a regular basis and ensure adequate supply.
- Minimize inventory losses by maintaining effective control systems for materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Work to minimize vacancy losses due to repair and cleaning.

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- Trade qualification in building trades, equivalent to a four-year post-secondary education or apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Experience**
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience supervising facility operations/ maintenance/ construction within a diverse portfolio of properties including residential.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, building, roofing, and mechanical systems.

**Requirements**:

- The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check must be completed prior to employment.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

**Job Information**
- **Salary**:$76,544 - $82,763
- ** Work Location**:Rock Bay Landing - 535 Ellice ST.
- **Work Days**:Monday to Friday.
- ** Work Hours**:8:30am - 4:30pm. Some flexibility will be required to meet operational needs.
- **Weekly Hours**:40 hours.
- ** Union**:Exempt.
- ** Benefits**:Eligible for 100% employer paid benefits.
- **Job Type**:Full time - Permanent.
