The Assistant Supervisor’s job will consist of two parts, operations, and childcare.

The Assistant Supervisor will be hired by the Supervisor to assist in the execution of our policy concerning admissions, operations, and programs.

Under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the coordination, supervision, and implementation of all aspects of the operation of the program.

When the Supervisor is absent it will be the sole responsibility of the Assistant Supervisor to perform these tasks.

The Assistant Supervisor will also be responsible for the care, instruction and supervision of children toddler to Preschool age, under the direct supervision of the Supervisor.

The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program.

In addition, the company requires the Assistant Supervisor to carry out other related duties and tasks.

The Assistant Supervisor role necessitates some physical child lifting and equipment movement, including moving toys, cribs, sleeping cots, etc.

**Qualifications**:
Open Book Childcare Centres Inc. requires the Assistant Supervisor to have a degree or diploma in early childhood education in addition to three years of minimum relevant practical experience, which includes proof of administrative responsibility proficiency.

Current First-Aid and CPR certificate is required as well as a clear vulnerable sector and criminal record check and the ability to obtain up to date immunization records.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Develop and implement the program through direction, participation, and ongoing evaluation
- Facilitate children's programs and routines
- Arrange and evaluate programming for children with special needs
- Supervise the activities of the staff to ensure that the children's individual needs are being met by the program
- Continually participate as a member of the team with others including supervisor, teacher's assistants, students, volunteers, and parents; respect each individual's ideas, opinions, and suggestions.

**Staff Supervision**:

- delegate staff duties
- communicate with staff daily, implement procedures for solving problems that may occur, respond to individual and group needs
- make staff aware of changes in enrollment when they occur
- inform staff on a daily basis of parental concerns regarding children
- maintain personnel files as well as children files
- act as a resource for and work with staff members to ensure policy procedure and program needs are met
- assist, advise and evaluate practicum (college students) students.

**Health and Safety**:

- maintain current first aid training and infant C.P.R.
- implement monthly practice procedure for fire and other emergencies.
- assist in keeping readily accessible and current list of phone numbers for contacting parents and emergency services.
- monitor and replenish first aid supplies when used.
- familiarize self with all safety rules and health practices regarding Open Book Childcare Centres Inc. and the children.
- follow Behaviour Management Policy guidelines established and followed by **Open Book Childcare Centres Inc.**

- attend regular staff meetings for the purpose of program discussion, pre-planning, staff communication and relations, individual child development assessment, and general business.
