The **School of Social Work** is seeking a Field and Alumni Relations Manager who will work closely with the Field Education team to enhance and further systematize the School’s current practices for recruiting and retaining field instructors and supporting placement students through field program requirements. A key component of the position will involve identifying field opportunities from an equity focus.

**Job Summary**:
Responsible for developing and implementing equity-focused field engagement strategies. Promotes student and field instructor development, success and retention, and encourages field instructor engagement by developing field supervision resources and professional development activities. Facilitates field exemption processes and provides professional field supervision for students in macro placements and supports the field team in matching BSW students with appropriate placement opportunities. Responsible for supervising full time permanent field and administrative staff as well as temporary and casual employees.

**Purpose and Key Functions**:
**Student Support**
- Provide social work supervision to students who are in placements that do not have a field instructor with a BSW/MSW.
- Provide field expertise and social work pedagogy to students who are in field settings.
- Create content, presentations and facilitate bi-weekly macro/community gatherings with BSW students.
- Support the Field Coordinator and Field Developer in matching students to placements.

**Project Work**

**Equity-focused Field Engagement: Planning, Enhancement and Development**
- Develop and write specialized field resources that help ensure excellence in supervision and a sense of community among our field instructors (like webinars, guidebooks, videos).
- In collaboration with the Field Co-Ordinator and Field Developer, actively recruit new field placements with a focus on key areas that we need more placements in such as newcomers, seniors, etc. as well as in areas that we want to increase placement opportunities, like the Peel region.
- In collaboration with the Field Co-Ordinator and Field Developer, develop a specialized strategy for recruiting new field instructors, particularly focused on alumni and aiming to create more opportunities for students to be supervised by field instructors with whom they share an identity as an equity deserving group.
- Develop a month-by-month plan for outreach to existing and potential field instructors incorporating knowledge of the social work field and school organization. Track and monitor engagement.
- In collaboration with the Field Co-Ordinator and Field Developer, educate agencies and social workers on the workings of McMaster and our programs.

**Communication and Outreach**
- Outreach to and build relationships with field instructors from equity deserving communities.
- Liaising with Field instructors, the school field team and students to ensure field information within the school is understood by all parties.
- Increase social media presence and effectiveness; write recommendations on renewal of the website to more effectively convey the opportunity and value of McMaster’s model of Social Work field instruction.
- Identify, plan and, facilitate monthly events/ activities/ resources of relevance and value to field instructors. Oversee field support staff involved in these tasks.

**Administrative tasks**
- Prepare, renew and track MOUs with BSW and MSW placement agencies. Coordinate with EOHSS, Office of Legal Services when questions arise.
- Administer health and safety documentation process for BSW and MSW placements.
- Process new appointments and renewals for adjunct field instructors.
- Facilitate 3rd year placement exemption process: collect and evaluate exemption materials, present to field team for recommendation, communicate with Department Manager/Academic Advisor re: transfer credit process.
- Organize field instructor training: Hire social workers in the community to lead the training and provide guidance and support around the pedagogy behind the training. Oversee field support staff who will book and send out all communication, manage RSVPs, set up zoom links etc.
- Administer and update IPT including communication to field instructors
