**WHAT THE ROLE PROVIDES YOU**:

The Behavioural Aide & Community Resource Worker Complex Needs will facilitate, model and provide both behaviour development supports and complex need supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Communicate effectively both verbal and written with the Client Goal Coach and Director of Organizational Effectiveness
- Commitment to an enhanced quality of life for clients
- Liaison with clients, DDRC staff including Client Service Coordinators, Team Leaders, and Managers on client related updates, concerns, and progress
- Facilitate decision-making including outlining rights and responsibilities
- Ability to make appropriate decisions independently
- Foster a person & family-centred support approach to service
- Facilitate and support families and clients with behavioural, development, and complex needs in implementing and evaluating personal plans and goals
- Provide behaviour and development supports and follow outlined PBS & SPPP program plans, as required
- Facilitate growth and development of independent living skills within client’s daily living
- Implementation of Augmentative & Alternative communication, if required and overseen by the Communication team
- Identify progressive steps towards identified roles and goals
- Be comfortable with 1:1 support to the client to implement the recommendations and strategies of the BDS therapist team working with the child (SLP/Psychologist/OT)
- Demonstrate therapy strategies in alignment with Registered Therapist, when family has been introduced
- Provide an engaging and positive environment for clients to thrive within
- Support age-related developmental growth by encouraging participation in either household or community activities to promote independence
- Advocacy, community education/awareness/development with all stakeholders
- Team development within individual teams, across teams, inter-agency, intra-agency, and the community
- Participate in self-development activities to ensure ongoing learning and to maintain high standards of professionalism
- Provide intimate and personal care supports to clients in designated programs, as required
- Maintain all documentation as required:
- Daily specific program reporting; record and inform discussion with guardians, home supports, clients, employers and potential employers;
- Session and case note
- Incident Reports, as required; and
- Knowledge in Service Provider Program Plans and Individual Service Plans, review and document the progress of individual Service Plans, including short-term and long-term goals
- Facilitate the development of relationships and natural supports
- Attend all required meetings and planning sessions, as requested
- Ensure full understanding and working knowledge of the Community Resource Worker & BDS orientation documents
- Abide by, maintain awareness of, and fully adhere to Agency policies and procedures; while working in accordance with Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation Standards
**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE**:
- Takes accountability to ensure all mandatory certifications and training are kept current

- Minimum two year Disability Studies Diploma or similar education or equivalent experience
- Experience working with and promoting the growth and development of a child/youth
- Current Standard First Aid CPR/AED - Level C, or willing to complete prior to commencing work
- Behavioural Aide experience in combination with complex needs supports
- Proficient in MS Office, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Ability to promote community inclusion of clients in accordance with client Quality of Life goals
