**Hours**:4-6 hrs monthly, 1 year contract term, possibility of extension

**Location**:Remote

**Role Description**: Reporting to the Committee Chair, the Committee Member will play an essential role as an advisor and developer within the committee. Responsibilities include supporting the Chair to set realistic fundraising targets, developing fundraising strategies and work plans, working with staff/volunteers to execute fundraising initiatives, stewarding donors and opening doors to new prospective donors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with the committee to create a comprehensive fund development strategy aligned with Youth Rising Above’s mission and objectives.
- Develop strategies to identify potential funding sources, including individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and government grants.
- Provide regular updates to the YRA Board on fund development activities, progress towards goals, and any challenges encountered.
- Collaborate with the Finance Committee to integrate fund development efforts with overall financial planning and to allocate resources efficiently for fundraising initiatives.
- Prioritize and recommend funding for specific campaigns or projects based on potential return on investment and strategic importance.
- Report on the effectiveness of different fundraising channels and programs.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with fundraising activities, such as legal compliance, reputation risks, and financial uncertainties and develop risk mitigation strategies and keep the Board informed about risk management measures.
- Provide the YRA Board with insights into donor engagement strategies and stewardship to ensure a positive and lasting relationships with donors.
- Present fund development campaign proposals to the YRA Board for approval, including setting realistic fundraising targets and outlining the expected impact on organizational objectives.
- Ensure that fund development campaigns adhere to ethical standards and align with the organization's values and monitor adherence to legal and ethical standards in fundraising practices.
- Educate the YRA Board on relevant regulations and standards governing fund development activities.
- Explore and recommend potential strategic partnerships with businesses, foundations, and other organizations that could enhance fund development efforts.
- Serve as an ambassador for YRA and actively engage in fund development efforts.

**Qualifications**:

- Relationship builder who is comfortable reaching out to others to share YRA’s mission.
- Work or volunteer experience with fund development, sales, marketing, communications.
- Genuine passion for the YRA's mission and a belief in the impact of its programs.
- Knowledge of various fund development methods and strategies, with Community-Centric fundraising practices and models a plus.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication abilities, focusing on positive, strength-based messaging and the implementation of equitable communication strategies.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to align fund development efforts with the organization's overall goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey the YRA's mission and fund development needs.
- Experience with grant writing or copywriting is an asset.
