Advanced Education supports Albertans by providing the education and training opportunities they need to prepare for the workforce. This is accomplished by: approving programs of study; funding public post-secondary institutions and other adult learning providers; providing financial aid for learners and, supporting academic research and innovation. This position resides within the Business and Systems Integration branch of the Student Financial Services division within Advanced Education.

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Ministry of Advanced Education has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Project Lead.

Within Business and Systems Integration branch, the System Integration and Maintenance (SIM) Unit is responsible for the day-to-day IT system support, maintenance, and development of Student Financial Services IT systems. This support currently includes maintaining and enhancing three parallel systems - the legacy system, the current modernized version of the Students Finance System (SFS), which are the production systems, as well as new modernized versions of SFS under development.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a SIM lead resource on specific projects and priority initiatives. The SIM Project Lead is responsible for multiple projects/initiatives at a time. This involves participating in the scope definition and working as a liaison between business and IT teams to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs and improve Student Financial Services business processes with the goal of implementing new technology to improve client and stakeholder services.

**In your role as a Project Lead, you will be responsible to**:
**1. Lead assigned projects and priority initiatives either on the modernization stream or on the production stream to ensure planned project objectives and deliverables fully encompass business requirements with focus on operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and quality and customer service.**
- Participate in the definition of the scope of project charters by participating in high level requirements gathering workshops.
- Sign-off on high level requirements, and various other documents associated to the project i.e., various versions of design documents, identification of reporting requirements, and process flows.
- Monitor and report on project progress, resolving business issues as they arise; raise awareness to the SIM Manager on more complex issues.
- Participate in meetings with Service providers to identify and clarify requirements and review project documents (Discovery, Client Solution Documents, and Test Plans, etc.) to ensure solutions being identified are acceptable and meet Student Financial Services business needs and vision.

**2. Provide daily operations and support of the current version of SFS and also the legacy system with focus on operational efficiency, financial accuracy, quality and customer service.**
- Participate in the management and coordination of the resolution of high priority defects within an existing inventory of 300 defects. Provide input into production issue resolution for both short term and long term needs.**3. Serve as liaison between technical project teams and business units to relay business requirements and provide direction to system development.**
- Consult with and gather input from ministry users.
- Participate in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions (working sessions with technical representatives) as a project lead to relay business requirements and participate in screen and system design. Analyze options, decisions, designs and processes/workflows to determine viability from a business and usability point of view; provide recommendations and participate in determining alternatives.**4. Work with PCCSA (Private Career Colleges and Student Aid) stakeholders to ensure they have up-to-date and accurate information regarding any system processes.**
- Support communication of system/process functionality changes affecting staff and schools - this includes review, edit and update of training material, procedures, guidelines, etc. for accuracy and appropriate context. Assist in review of system related user training and communication materials and change management plans. This may inclu
