**The Opportunity**:
The Security Officer will report directly to the Manager, Emergency Preparedness and Security and be responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the hospital staff, patients, volunteers, physicians and visitors.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of a Community College Law and Security Program, or graduate of a recognized Emergency Services training facility, and/or 3-5 years Security experience in a Healthcare Facility
- Current certification with Private Investigator’s and Security Act (Bill 159 legislation)
- Three years of previous experience in dealing with the general public in a law and/or security role - preferred
- Current use of force and/or non-violent crisis intervention training an asset.
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
- Excellent customer service demeanour
- Ability to accurately perform the duties of the role with a focused attention to detail
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the role
- Excellent attendance/performance record
- Committed to professional growth & development

- Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.

- Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.

**Wage**:$29.38 - $29.93 per hour
