Monolith Taproom Chef

The Monolith Chef works at the bar in the Monolith Taproom, preparing dishes and engaging with customers on the food and the beer experience. The Chef preps and prepares all food items, develops menu items in collaboration with Biera Head Chef, engages with guests, provides strong product knowledge as they promote and sell Blind Enthusiasm products, services, and experience.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide a high level of customer service by establishing contact, greeting customers, educating customers, and promoting product offerings in detail, and ensuring customer satisfaction at all times. Some beer service will be required. Monolith food prep area is behind the bar, in front of customers
- Be an expert on Blind Enthusiasm products, stay up to date and have a detailed knowledge of all brewery offerings and how they are produced.
- Contributing to safety and a positive working environment for all brewery and taproom staff.
- Work with Taproom Manager and Head Chef on menu development, delivering dishes that compliment the Monolith beer offerings.
- Prepares food items out of Biera’s kitchen, transporting them to the Monolith.
- Prepares prep items at Biera
- Work additional shifts in Biera kitchen as schedule allows.
- Coordinates closely with the Head Chef and Biera’s Sous chef to ensure all food products are effectively ordered and produced.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens & kitchen equipment.
- Knows and complies consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standard and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for the quality of products served.
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products to support a smooth service period.
- Handles, stores, and rotates all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures.
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
- Closes the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations and assists others in closing the kitchen.
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and welcoming environment. Ensure end of day cleaning duties are performed.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Using product expertise, sell and recommend additional suitable products to customers.
- Sales of take away beer and merchandise.
- Assist in execution of Monolith special events as required.
- Handle cash, credit, and card payments. Work with POS as required.
- Ensure AGLC and other government guidelines are met at all times.
- Maintain up to date ProServe Certification
Other duties as required.
Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
Experience with recipe and menu development
A demonstrated interest in Craft Beer and/or Wine including food pairings.
Able to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen personnel
Experience dealing directly with customers.
Able to work in standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
