Toronto, Canada Skipperi Full time

**About Us**:
Skipperi is a fast growing, tech oriented boating company from the Nordics. We are sailors, motorboaters, landlubbers and fishermen, all passionate about making boating accessible for everyone. On top of boating, we sure do know a thing or two about software development, marketplaces and digital marketing As a tech-oriented company we are constantly looking for ways to make boating even more easy, safe and fun by utilizing technology. We think that shared boating is smart boating. Skipperi Fleet is a digitized and hassle-free boating service with over 400 shared-use motorboats and has grown to cover over 60 HOBs (Hop on boards) across 6 countries since 2019. We have also developed our own online training environment, Skipperi Academy, that together with practical training focuses on keeping our boaters safe out on the water.

**The Job**:
We are now looking for seasonal maintenance staff, ideally with a passion for boating. This role will be focused on taking care of our fleet, on-site at our Hop-On-Board locations, which are spread across the Lake Ontario waterfront from Pickering to Hamilton, with a focus on Downtown Toronto. We imagine that you have previously had a job that required you to be hands-on performing maintenance work. You are excited to
work outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, rain, wind), and are comfortable working on and around boats and water, performing physical tasks. You are organized, thoughtful, and appreciate attention to detail. You are flexible, have a go-getter-attitude, and thrive in cross-functional collaborations. You will be based in the Toronto area and work closely with the Skipperi Canada Team.

The work comprises of the maintenance and operation of Skipperi’s motorboats, ensuring they are in top condition. You will be able to work independently with close assistance from the rest of the Skipperi Canada team. This can include, but is not limited to; detailing (cleaning and polishing), preparing and transporting boats for service and keeping our fleet in tip-top condition. In addition to maintenance of boats, you will also be member-facing and will be asked to assist our newer, less experienced members at the dock. If you’ve already got your Canadian Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC), that’s great Our only strict requirement is that you are willing to learn

The work is seasonal, with the high season being from May-August, but we also need help in April (preparing for the season) and throughout the autumn in September, October and November, getting ready for the winter. We anticipate being able to offer flexible hours beginning as early as April 1, with full-time hours available beginning in mid-April until late fall. Our operational season runs until October 31 st. Flexible start and end dates are possible and we encourage students to apply. Our boats are used multiple times a day, every day during the season, from the morning through the evening, and on weekends. We see it as important that you thrive working within a flexible schedule, and are willing to perform shifts over the weekend. Our harbours are spread from Pickering to Hamilton, so a driver’s license is preferred.

**We are looking for people who**:

- Have experience of being out on the water and are fond of boats
- Are independent, take initiative and are proactive with suggesting areas for improvement
- Want to create joy and unforgettable memories for our members
- Thrive with flexible work times
- Have your driver’s license (clean, with access to a vehicle)
- Like apps, technology, and have a smart-phone and laptop computer
- Have the ability to take content for social media, including photos and video
- Are keen to grow Skipperi in Toronto and later in other cities in Canada
- Are based in the Greater Toronto Area
- Support Skipperi’s Country Lead, marketing, and operations teams
- Roll up your sleeves and find out what building a start-up really means

**What we think would make you successful in this position**:

- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
- Boating skills and/or passion for being out on the water
- Great written and verbal communication skills in English
- Self-directed attitude (we are a startup and really mean this)
- Courage to try things out and take responsibility
- Enjoy developing new solutions and keep looking towards the future
- Enjoy doing things instead of waiting, and if you don’t have marine maintenance experience, you are willing to learn

**What we have to offer**:

- A global work environment with colleagues that are fun, friendly, and willing to assist
- Opportunity to be an essential part of developing the service
- Possibility for flexible remote work
- Opportunity to grow and improve your skill sets within the business
- A work environment where we like to test, challenge, and improve
- An opportunity to grow along with us and change boating worldwide
- A lot of boating (a lot)
- Fantastic place to work, right
