**About Our Opportunity**:
Looking for a summer job but do not want to spend all day inside behind a desk? We are seeking a post-secondary student to work with a passionate team of professional staff to assist with public outreach programs and events in our Provincial Parks and public events throughout the province. If you are enthusiastic about nature and have a passion for educating and interacting with the public, then this is the right job for you
- Some of the work you will be involved in includes:
- Assist with the creation, implementation and evaluation of pop-up park events throughout the province
- Implementation, evaluation and expansion of self-led QR programs in select Provincial Parks
- Assist with the 2024 Learn to Camp program
- Coordinate and lead events on National Parks Day
- Create internal resources to support new programs under development
- Work with department staff to organize and deliver a variety of outreach and education programs at events throughout the province.

This is an opportunity for you to participate in and collaborate with a passionate team of professional and technical staff on special projects or assignments; helping you further enhance and develop your skills. We support opportunities to develop networks and exposure to other parts of our department where possible.**About You**:
You must be a full-time post-secondary student enrolled in any of the following fields: natural resources management, education, natural sciences, environmental science, outdoor recreation, and returning to studies in the fall of 2024.
- To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following with specific examples:
- Experience delivering presentations and public speaking, leading diverse groups
- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), time management and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, taking the initiative to manage your own work
- Proficient with standard Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Forms, PowerPoint

The following are considered assets:
- Standard First Aid training
- Familiarity with local area geography and the Provincial Park system of camping, day-use parks, beaches, and trails

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.**Additional Information**:
**The start date is May 6, with an anticipated end date of August 23, 2024. Some flexibility in start and end dates may be possible.**

**Travel throughout the province will be required. As such, a valid NS Driver’s License (or equivalent) and access to a reliable vehicle is required.**

**This position will be a combination of office and field work throughout the province. Overnight, evening and weekend work will be required along with working in varying weather conditions, attending public spaces and events.**

**Must have the ability to lift/handle equipment of varying weight.**

**Employees are required to provide their own CSA safety boots.**
