Ft Housing Stability Worker

**Reports to: Housing Intervention Program Lead**
The Housing Stability Worker (HSW) will support individuals exiting homelessness.
They will begin by working with the client to assess the capacity within five core areas: budgeting, maintaining healthy relationships with landlords and neighbours, meeting basic needs, knowledge of rights and responsibilities and maintaining a home.
The HSW will create a Holistic Assessment and Action Plan.
The HSW will support life skills development regarding unit upkeep and budgeting, etc.
The HSW will support and inform clients regarding their tenancy rights and responsibilities.
The HSW will work closely with the HIW to receive referrals for HSW supports.
**Education & Skills**: Post secondary education, completed Accredited Canadian University with a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Social Work and 2-3 years recent and relevant experience working with the low income / marginalized clients and the ability to treat clients in a way which is non-judgemental and without bias. Ability to work with community agencies and collaborators.
**Work Experience**: Capable of working both on own initiative and in a team environment, support clients who are experiencing homelessness, and / or emotional / social / behavioral difficulties. Proven interpersonal and communication skills. Working knowledge of the Windsor-Essex By-Names Prioritized List, Coordinated Access**, **Windows, Excel, Internet and standard office equipment is essential.
**Knowledge**: Recent and relevant working knowledge of the Social Services, Community Agencies and Housing Related Programs. Current knowledge of best practice models, including: Housing First, Harm Reduction, Knowledge of housing and homelessness issues in Windsor-Essex preferred. Knowledge of CHR, BNPL, and Rent Supplement guidelines.
Knowledge of transitional and permanent housing resources, including social housing and housing with supports, throughout Windsor-Essex.
**Other Requirements**: _**Policies and Procedures**_:_ Adheres to all organization policies and procedures and make recommendations where applicable. Able to relate to routine operations in a manner that is consistent with existing solutions to problems; log work activities.
- **Handle Multiple Tasks / Requests**_**: Able to deal with frequent change, delays, multiple requests (phone & in-person), high volume of requests, while addressing written tasks, unexpected event etc.
- **Spoken and Written Communication**_**: Able to clearly present information through the spoken word (telephone & in-person) and in writing and to document activities; to read and interpret written information; listen well.
- **Interaction**:_Able to communicate with others in a warm and helpful manner while simultaneously building credibility and rapport. Awareness and sensitivity to clients experiencing homelessness as well as the needs of the vulnerable sector an asset.
- **Organization and Planning**:_ Attention to detail when completing tasks with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload. Provides regular reports regarding activities and housing outcomes.
- **Problem Solving**:_ Able to assist in ensuring housing goals are met. Ability to provide excellent co-ordination, consultation, interpersonal, negotiation / mediation, facilitation, creative problem solving, critical analysis and information synthesis skills.
- **Safety**:_ Demonstrates skill around personal safety, de-escalation of clients and ability to advocate for responsible harassment free behaviour. Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Sector Checks required. Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification an asset. Updated CPR and First Aid Certification required.
**Relevant Work Environment**: The work week will be a minimum of 37.5 hours including availability and flexibility for evening and weekend work as required. Must own effective mode of transportation and a valid Ontario driver’s license. Must provide up-to-date police clearance and proof of insurance and proof of endorsement OPCF6 from automobile insurance company.
