John Bosco Wilderness Camp is seeking dynamic, outgoing individuals with a love of the outdoors to work as camp counselors/group leaders. The position is located at Zeden Lake in the Narrow Hills Provincial Park of Saskatchewan. Room and board are provided.

**Who we are**

Nestled on the shores of Zeden and Ispuchaw Lakes in Narrow Hills Provincial Park, Saskatchewan, St. John Bosco Wilderness Camp operates primarily as a summer camp for youth ages eight through seventeen. The focus at camp is having fun, learning, and living in the outdoors. Our core experience is the out-trip, where campers have the opportunity to experience rustic wilderness travel and camping. Through these experiences, campers make lifelong friends and develop a new appreciation for nature.

Dates of Employment are ;
May 27 - August 19, 2024

**Duties include but are not limited to**:

- Setting an example for campers by following all rules, protocols, and procedures.
- Supervising groups of campers
- Leading groups on multi-day hiking and canoeing trips through Saskatchewan’s boreal forests.
- Promote camper participation in all activities.
- Participate in and supervise all group activities including hikes, dances, and other recreational activities.
- Group leaders lead the children in all aspects and activities of their day. A typical day includes camp activities such as canoeing, swimming, sports, Naturelore (ecological studies), orienteering, wilderness crafts, Hebertism (low ropes/obstacle courses), archery, reflection, and campfires.

**Qualifications**:

- Must have a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Take initiative in acting as a good role model for youth and ensuring that campers have a positive experience at camp.
- Have camping experience and/or a good understanding of the John Bosco Wilderness camp programs.
- Have experience with youth and mentoring peers.
- Enjoy the outdoors, the majority of time at Camp is spent outdoors in all types of weather.
- Be responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, patient, and willing to learn.
- First Aid/CPR (considered an asset not necessary)
- Certified Lifeguard (considered an asset not necessary)
- Previous experience in an overnight summer camp environment. (Considered an asset not necessary)

**Salary**

Starting at $368.00/week up to $407.00/week based on experience and qualifications. Plus room and board.
