The Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Ottawa hospital is seeking a family physician or internist to join as a member of our surgical team and contribute to the care and co-management of our patients alongside residents, fellows and attending staff.
**WORK EXPECTATIONS**
The new team member will also be responsible for coordinating care with nurses and allied health professionals to facilitate disposition.
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Independent licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Active Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage (CMPA) in good standing.
- Trained in Family Medicine (CCFP), Internal Medicine (FRCPC), or Surgery (FRCSC).
- An individual who is trustworthy and reliable.
- Someone who is detail-oriented, works assiduously, and is an excellent collaborator.
- Someone who can integrate and contribute to any team seamlessly.
- Excellent English language communication skills (French would be an asset).
**ADDITIONAL DETAILS**
The uOttawa Thoracic surgery program provides tertiary and quaternary care for a catchment population of almost 1.5 M in Eastern Ontario. They also serve Nunavut patients through an interprovincial agreement. Thoracic surgery has close working relationships with and is supported by: Thoracic Anesthesia, Respirology, Critical Care, Thoracic Radiology, Medical and Radiation Oncology. There is also close collaboration with Cardiac Surgery at the uOttawa Heart Institute, ENT/Head and Neck surgery and Gastroenterology.
The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). There are approximately 50,000 inpatient admissions, 160,000 emergency visits and over one million outpatient visits annually. The Ottawa Hospital is the Level 1 trauma referral centre for Eastern Ontario. With a catchment of nearly 2 million people, our trauma program facilitates inpatient care for close to 1,000 patients annually.
