**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you looking for a diverse career where you can make a difference for Albertans? Then consider joining our highway operations team in Pincher Creek as the Maintenance Contract Inspector (MCI) for Contract Maintenance Area 522 (CMA 522) and help us keep our highways safe.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is primarily responsible for administering the road maintenance program in CMA 522 in addition to managing CMA highway operations, to ensure the safety and convenience of the motoring public.
The MCI for CMA 522 will plan, order, oversee, and monitor the road maintenance programs to ensure that the work carried out by the Highway Maintenance Contractor is in accordance with the contractual agreement. The MCI will be responsible to manage a budget of approximately $10 to $12 million annually and can be expected to liaise with the public, contractors, officials of other provincial departments and municipal government officials. In this role you will patrol area roads and bridges to observe highway conditions, identify maintenance requirements, and authorize and monitor the work in progress within approved budget allocations.

**Required**:
- Two-year technical diploma in a related field plus seven years related experience as described below.
Required experience for this position:
- Experience and extensive knowledge of highway maintenance activities and budgeting, roadway design and structure, and management of traffic safety issues.
- Identifying roadway failure and recommending appropriate economic solutions.
- Project planning, supervising contractors and work scheduling.
**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Assets**:
- Directly related experience in highway maintenance, construction/design and roadside development is preferred
- Supervisory and contract administration experience is an asset
- Strong ability to problem solve in unique situations with creative and innovative solutions for all aspects of highway construction and maintenance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
