**Employment Resource Worker - Summer Student (Two Positions)**

**About the Role**:
The Employment Services of John Howard Society is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. Its goal is to provide support to individuals to obtain sustainable employment through a full suite of services that include Information/Resource, Client Service Planning and Coordination, Job Search, Job Placement and Matching and Job Retention.

This position is a summer position responsible to support job seekers in our resource rooms and to facilitate Employment focused workshops to Resource/Information and assisted service participants who access all ES programs at the John Howard Society of Durham Region. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for the screening of R/I workshop participants to ascertain eligibility of assisted Employment Services. You will work closely with Employment Advisors to coordinate the referral of these participants to assisted service.

**You’ll be working on things like**:
**Service User Support**
- Meeting, greeting and assisting service users 1:1 with a variety of employment related needs in the Resource Centre
- Plans and delivers employment and labour market information workshops and workplace orientation to assist clients to develop their job search skills, strategies, and employment skills required to meet the expectations of work, education and/or training
- Determines service suitability, gathers profile information from clients and determines if the service and supports through career and employment preparation program can make the clients competitively employable.

**Case Management/Documentation**
- In consultation with Employment/Employer Advisors use a variety of counselling modalities to evaluate job readiness
- Liaises with community partners and other JHS program staff to ensure coordination between programs and utilizing available resources.
- Maintains up-to-date case notes, progress reports and client files with clear rationale for methods and intervention used, and statistical documentation in accordance with the program requirements. Must meet Documentation Quality Standards and provide accurate and timely data entry and filing procedures to the database.

**Community, Statistical Administration & Other**
- Maintain monthly performance related statistical reports
- Maintain workshop attendance and registration records/methods
- Meets all required program targets and deadlines.
- Explore new resources to stay current and provide additional information on job search techniques and create alternate delivery methods
- Liaises with other program staff to ensure coordination between programs and utilizing available resources.
- Make referrals to community agencies as deemed appropriate
- Ensuring that all services are provided within the standards of service maintained by JHS and consistent with the agency’s philosophical beliefs.
- Create advertising materials and market workshop sessions in the community
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of new trends and resources in the employment and training sector
- Representing the agency in the community when required
- Attend workshops, meetings and seminars as requested
- Other related duties as required

**If you have the following we want to hear from you**
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education related to Career Counselling, Human Services or social work.
- Employment and general counselling experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of pre-employment support methods, retraining opportunities and labour market information and resources.
- Experience working with all different type of job seekers, including youth, newcomers, internationally trained professionals, newcomers, OW, EI and ODSP recipients, individuals experiencing long term unemployment and differently-abled persons.
- Strong case management and organization skills
- Experienced in using Zoom to host/co-host meetings, including using polls, breakout rooms, annotation mode
- Strong knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite and Wordpress
- Strong self-management skills to achieve project goals within short timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to take initiative and work as part of a team
- Able to work in an environment that
