Position**:Estimator**
As an Estimator at Higgins Hardscape, you’ll be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of hardscape projects and creating detailed proposals. This role demands strong analytical skills, project management expertise, and effective negotiation abilities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of project plans, specifications, and requirements.
- Estimate costs for materials, labour, and equipment based on contract bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications.
- Interpret detailed technical documents for bid proposals.
- Perform full quantity take-offs, ensuring accurate and timely estimates, proposals, and bid documentation.
- Adhere to the tendering process and establish cost-monitoring systems.
- Gather quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, incorporating them into bids.
- Lead the full-cycle bid process collaboratively.
- Serve as the primary client contact during the bidding phase.
- Summarize all estimate components, including a lead sheet.
- Debrief with the President and Production Manager after contract awards.
- Present estimates and proposals to senior management.
- Prepare change orders and ensure compliance with all client requirements.
- Communicate customer needs to relevant team members.
- Participate in project development activities, including pre-construction planning and scope definition.
- Oversee awarded contracts, estimate additional work, and manage change orders.
- Negotiate and award contracts.
- Track project costs, prepare expenditure forecasts, and attend site meetings.
- Administer contracts, including purchase orders, invoicing, and dispute resolution.
- Collaborate with Foremen to maintain cost control and assist with future pricing.
**Requirements**:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Dynascape.
- Ability to read grading plans.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience estimating in construction or landscaping.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
