**Position Summary**
The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics strives to be leaders in our communities and help shape the future. We use our impactful research and experiential approach to education to meet the dynamic needs of our local, national, and international stakeholders.
The Startup Lab provides support, mentorship, and resources to startups, both traditional enterprises and social ventures, founded by Laurier students and alumni at all of Laurier’s campuses.
The Programming and Student Engagement Coordinator role requires a dynamic, self-starting individual with the passion and vision to develop and carry out a comprehensive and inclusive strategy to engage, inform, and inspire Laurier’s future student entrepreneurs across all academic disciplines and Laurier campuses. The incumbent must also support innovative thinking and the generation of ideas across the spectrum of entrepreneurship and social innovation, both high and low technology firms.
The Coordinator requires expertise and knowledge in current entrepreneurial thinking and methodology, experience mentoring and fostering the development and leadership capacity of others - particularly students, and project or program management experience. This role entails creating and delivering programming (non-credit, extra-curricular, and co-curricular) collaboratively with academic faculties, student groups, and ecosystem partners to help participants develop an entrepreneurial mindset, envision new opportunities, develop ideas, build effective teams, and ultimately turn those ideas into sustainable business ventures or social enterprises.
This position has a university-wide mandate and is based at the Waterloo Campus. The incumbent provides services to all campuses, requiring regular interpersonal interactions and collaboration with departments at the Waterloo and Brantford Campuses. Special attention is given to ensure equitable service delivery across all locations.
**Accountabilities**
**Program Development**
- Engage stakeholders inside and outside of Laurier to consult on levels of student awareness, engagement, knowledge, and skillsets with respect to entrepreneurship and social innovation.
- Work with student teams/clubs and faculty groups to research levels of interdisciplinary understanding with respect to entrepreneurship and social innovation, and how best to increase engagement levels on an inclusive, interdisciplinary basis.
- Conduct appropriate gap analysis with respect to student programming to increase and continually improve entrepreneurship and social innovation experiences across campuses.
- Develop action plans and programming to increase levels of: awareness and interest in entrepreneurship and social innovation, the foundational skillsets to develop and follow-through on ideas, and the actual creation of ideas and turning them into sustainable business models to prepare for new venture incubation.
