**JOB OVERVIEW: Research Assistant, Cellular and Molecular Biology Lab**

This role reports to: Dr. Barnabe D. Assogba, Ph.D.

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our Cellular and Molecular Biology Lab on the Surrey campus. As an invaluable team member, you will contribute to ongoing research projects and gain hands-on experience in various cellular and molecular biology techniques and methodologies. This position suits students pursuing a relevant field degree and striving for practical laboratory experience.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline). KPU students will be given priority consideration.
- Basic knowledge of cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, microscopy, immunoblotting assays, ELISA, and ELISPOT.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate data collection and laboratory maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with other lab members and present scientific information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following instructions and demonstrating initiative.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software such as ImageJ.
- Commitment to laboratory safety practices and ethical guidelines for scientific research.
- Prior laboratory experience or cellular and molecular biology coursework is preferred but optional.
