Idea Exchange is a community hub comprised of the public libraries and art galleries for the City of Cambridge, a thriving city with a rich architectural heritage and the second largest community within the Waterloo Region. **What You’ll Do**

As a Member Services Assistant, you will:

- Work collaboratively with the Old Post Office team to create a welcoming environment that is inclusive, equity-driven, and service-oriented
- Greet all members of the public and assist them with checking out materials, and with their accounts and payments
- Provide basic assistance in sourcing resources that meet information needs (reference) and provide recommendations for new reading material (readers’ advisory)
- Assist members in the use of library technology and other technology, such as computers, tablets, and printing
- Promote relevant services, collections, resources, programs and events

- Experience in a service environment working with the public
- A track record of providing excellent customer service
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- An inclusive and empathetic approach and a service-oriented mindset
- The ability to follow detailed processes and balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
- A passion for supporting the diverse interests and needs of the Cambridge community

**Pay**: the starting rate of pay is $24.94 per hour

**Hours**: Approximately 36.25 hours in a two-week period in the Fall / Winter / Spring, and 34.25 hours in a two-week period between Victoria Day and Labour Day

**Schedule**: working various day, evening, and weekend shifts

**Week 1**

Monday OFF

Tuesday 12:00pm to 3:00pm (3 hours)

Wednesday 5:00pm to 8:30pm (3.5 hours)

Thursday 2:30pm to 5:30pm (3 hours)

Friday 12:30pm to 5:30pm (5 hours)

Saturday OFF

Sunday OFF

**Week 2**

Monday OFF

Tuesday 12:00pm to 3:00pm (3 hours)

Wednesday 5:00pm to 8:30pm (3.5 hours)
