The Chilliwack School of Performing Arts is looking for a new Artistic Director CSOPA is the only Non-Profit youth theatre school in Chilliwack. This unique position encompasses a variety of engaging tasks. Help further grow and guide the creative vision for the school, while supporting the theatrical education of youth in Chilliwack and beyond.

The Artistic Director is responsible for the overall artistic direction for the Chilliwack School Of Performing Arts, oversight of all productions, and oversight of all classes and workshops. A breakdown of specific duties is detailed below.

The Artistic Director reports to the board of directors for the Chilliwack School Of Performing Arts and shall perform the duties underlined in this posting as well as other such duties as may be assigned by the board from time to time.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

ARTISTIC
- Develop and maintain the educational and artistic direction of the organization
- develop, implement, and evaluate programs for the year
- Create and implement the overarching curriculum for CSOPA
- Maintain written procedures for technical and production staff
- Develop, Implement, adjust, and oversee production operations, policies, and procedures
- Oversee the selection of shows for each season

ADMINISTRATIVE:

- Hire, supervise, and evaluate all instructional and artistic staff
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate all key technical personnel
- Conduct regular staff meetings with all artistic and instructional staff
- Assist the Administrative Director and Treasurer in the development and preparation of the yearly budget.
- Provide oversight of performances by students and staff representing the school
- Instruct programs as required

PROGRAMMING MANAGEMENT — With support from the Admin Director to:

- Develop job descriptions and written contracts for all staff and volunteers
- Develop the annual schedule for the school
- Support all classes/class instructors, workshop instructors, and students as needed
- Recruit and manage volunteers to support productions and other performances
- Maintain general cleanliness of the rented space

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

- Foster the development of good relations with other cultural organizations
- Create a network of community contacts
- Act as spokesperson for the organization

With support from the Administrative Director to:

- Administrate and facilitate all special events
- Assist in the production and distribution of publicity and printed materials for the organization
- Assist in promoting classes and special events

COMMUNICATIONS
- Coordinate with the Administrative Director to prepare and present monthly activity reports to the board of Directors
- Meet with parents and staff to identify and resolve concerns or refer concerns to the board liaisons.
- Maintain a working relationship with the board and staff

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $36,420.00 per year
