St Thomas, Canada Southwestern Tax Service Full time

Are you an administrative assistant who enjoys working with individuals and small business owners, and are looking to make a large impact in your next role?

Do you enjoy working alongside industry experts and excel in team environments?

If you answered yes to these questions, then look no further

We are Southwestern Tax Service, and we specialize in finding tax solutions for agriculture and small business. For over 40 years, our team of friendly, knowledgeable staff have worked closely with clients to ensure they are receiving the best possible tax solutions for their unique needs.

Now we are looking for a new Administrative Assistant to join our team

**Administrative Assistant**

As our new Administrative Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist our team with taxation services and work as a liaison for our clients in their dealings with the Canada Revenue Agency as well as other federal and provincial government agencies.

Specifically, some of your tasks will include:

- Gathering and organizing tax information from clients
- Retrieving and reconciling tax information from the CRA
- Preparing correspondence for clients, lenders, and other professionals
- Assisting clients in obtaining government benefits
- Scheduling appointments between clients and our tax professionals

Although client interactions will be your primary focus, you’ll also find yourself using your soft skills, too. As you get to know our clients and the other members of our team, you’ll start to notice tasks that should be done to help the office work as efficiently as possible.

Beyond your technical skills, you are somebody who is:

- Detail-oriented - you are known to be meticulous and see the value in always double-checking your work.
- Resourceful; you do your research and know more than one way to complete your work. This comes in handy, particularly when faced with a challenge.
- Adaptable; you think quickly on your feet and move seamlessly between multiple tasks.
- Proficient at written and verbal communication - you are able to clearly convey complex information to clients and team members.
- Willing to Learn; you seek to expand your skills and knowledge set, and use constructive feedback to improve your outcomes.

**The Details**

This is a full-time, contract position paying between $18 and $22 per hour, depending on experience. The work schedule will be Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4pm, and Friday from 8am to 12pm, with extended work hours and occasional Saturdays during peak season.

The contract will run from early January through to the end of June, with the possibility of extending this into a full-time, permanent position after the contract.

If you become a full-time, permanent member of the staff, you would receive a comprehensive group benefits package including group life insurance and health, dental, vision, and disability benefits. You would also receive paid personal days, paid vacation and paid time off during the holidays.

**Working at Southwestern Tax Service**

Two of the biggest reasons you'll love working here are the team and the learning potential.

We are a small firm of tax professionals who are knowledgeable, friendly, and open. We will give you the freedom to learn and grow and we will be there to support you every step of the way.

By working with multiple clients, you will enjoy variety in your day-to-day tasks as you address their individual and unique needs. You will become a pro at multi-tasking and as you develop your skills, you will be trusted with a larger volume of clients and more challenging files.
