To be eligible for the SECURE Summer Student Program, you must meet the following requirements:

- Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid work permit.
- If you are selected for a role considered safety-sensitive, you will be required to successfully complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and drug test.

**Your Opportunity at SECURE Energy**

As our Summer Student - Emergency Management & Security you will be involved in SECURE’s Emergency & Security program activities and gain an understanding of the Federal & Provincial regulations that govern these programs. The student will also add value by assisting in data verification in the ERP’s, creating program process & procedures and assisting with various training & exercise requirements.

This role is based out of the Calgary Brookfield office on a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule.

**The Team**

The Emergency Management & Security (EMS) team at SECURE Energy is a collaborative, dedicated group focused on proactive safety and emergency preparedness across SECURE’s operations. Joining this team provides a hands-on opportunity to work alongside experts in a supportive environment that values innovation and teamwork to ensure compliance and preparedness in emergency response.

**A Day in The Life**

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Emergency Response Plans:

- Support team on updating and revising regulated and site-specific ERPs o Technical data review, field reviews, final reviews
- Support orientations of ERP’s to field ops
- Verify phone numbers and service providers listed in site-specific ERP’s
- Create & update emergency response plans for Chemicals & Metals divisions
- Conduct QA/QC of ERPs

Exercises and Training (EM&S):

- Assist in planning and logistics for exercises and training
- Attend 1 full scale exercise
- Ensure ICS forms are in Word writable format
- Understand the approach to initial response at Secure (fill out the ICS-201 & 234 forms and all the applicable forms required for initial response)

EM&S Program Management:

- Support EM in development of processes and procedures as required
- Gain an understanding of EOC protocols, activations and workings of the Emergency Operations Center
- Collect and report on monthly and quarterly metrics for EM

**Skills, Experience, & Qualifications**
- Enrolled in a post secondary education with focus in Sciences, Engineering or Business.
- Data verification skills
- Ability to help create and update program processes and procedures, requiring clear written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and possibly familiarity with Data management tools
- Attention to Detail: Precision in data verification and documentation tasks, ensuring accuracy in regulated emergency response plans.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in a team setting, supporting EMS team members, and collaborating with field operations.
- Communication Skills: Clear, professional communication, both written and verbal, for presenting findings, supporting ERP orientations, and participating in training exercises.
- Adaptability: Willingness to take on diverse tasks within emergency management, from field data reviews to process development, and respond to evolving project needs.
