**Job details**:
The role of research technician supports Above Food’s advancement in research and innovation as well as quality control/assurance in the Food Science Department. This position will be full-time for a temporary maternity leave contract of 6 months with the possiblity of extending to a maximum of 12 months. Tentative start date will be around April.17-24. You will report to the VP of Regulatory and Quality Assurance and the Research and Innovation Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Aid in the expansion of technical data surrounding Above Foods ingredient and product portfolio
- Focusing on value-added ingredients from oats, pulses, quinoa
- Aid in the creation of test methods/revising current test methods, processes, and SOPs
- Aid in the creation of specifications for new products
- Work closely with Quality Control/Assurance on new products, procedures, current products
- Carry out analytical tests, record data, make observations, interpret the data
- Collect samples and keep an inventory of material and trial specific information
- Trouble shoot equipment/methodology issues
- Aid in ensuring equipment is well cleaned and maintained
- Aid in ensuring lab glassware and accessories are well cleaned
- Aid in ensuring lab inventory is kept up to date and report any items that are running low
- Aid in ensuring laboratory cleanliness is maintained
- Other duties as they arise
