**The Career.**
The Laundry Assistant reports to the Services Manager. This position is responsible for providing laundry services for the all Community Members’ bathroom and bedroom linens. Additional personal laundry services will also be completed to those Community Members who have requested this extra service. Delivering services utilizing the service culture standards, Orange Dot values, vision and mission of VVA Retirement Communities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Ensure the delivery of services required by Community Members utilizing the Culture Service Standards.
- Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) as outlined for laundry department
- All items will be laundered according to article tag instructions.
- Return any items to Community Member, with written notification, if item is “dry clean only”
- Proper product will be used as per directed i.e. stain blaster
- Report back to Community Member, in writing, if labelling of article is coming off
- Fosters customer satisfaction at all times
- Washes, folds, irons and delivers laundry as required.
- Ensures issue resolution relating to Laundering Services are followed through with in cooperation with Community Members, families, other VVA Team Members. This includes referring Community Members and families to the Services Manager should they require additional services not within their present service package.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual audits as requested by the Services Manager
- Report any undesired behaviours, signs or symptoms that may attribute to the decline of general wellness of the Community Members i.e. soiled linen
- Ensures that effective Infection Control protocols are in place and followed at all times. Separation of clean and soiled linen will be maintained at all times. Increasing protocols when needed i.e. outbreak
- Request all needed education to maximize knowledge that will increase effective working environment
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned i.e. laundry, housekeeping,
**Qualifications**:
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and subordinates
- Ability to manage their time effectively with little supervision
- Ability to work as a team member, understanding the priorities of others
- Able to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods. Able to lift a maximum of 50 lb
- Able to use commercial laundry and cleaning equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
- Up to date with the completion of the Safety 24-7 online training program
- Experience in housekeeping duties an asset
- Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English.
Successful applicants will be required to show proof eligibility to work in Canada for the next 6 months.
