**Position Summary**
The Career Services Officer supports students and alumni in their career development journey, from providing guidance on career planning and job search strategies to building connections with employers and organizing career events. Reporting to the Career Services Manager, the Career Services Officer will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing relationships with industry partners, helping students access internships, co-op placements, and full-time job opportunities, and delivering career development workshops and resources.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Utilize a best practice approach to career education that reflects current trends in career development, including employer hiring practices, occupational/professional guidelines and current labour market conditions.
- Provide individualized career advice to students and alumni, assisting with resume reviews, interview preparation, and career exploration.
- Actively develop and maintain relationships with employers to increase internship and job opportunities for students and graduates.
- Organize and execute career development events such as job fairs, employer information sessions, workshops, and networking events.
- Create and update career development resources, including guides, workshops, and online materials on topics such as job search strategies, LinkedIn optimization, and personal branding.
- Track employment outcomes for graduates and generate reports to assess the effectiveness of career services initiatives. Maintain accurate records of student interactions and employer partnerships.
- Develop and foster relationships with other departments, specifically Student Services and International Student Support Offices, to provide comprehensive student service.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years’ practical experience in career services, student advising, or a related field, preferably within a post-secondary environment.
- Strong understanding of the current job market, especially in business sectors, and familiarity with employer expectations for new graduates.
- Proven experience in organizing and delivering career-focused events, workshops, or seminars.
- Proficiency using MS Office, Salesforce, SharePoint, or other CRM Software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect with students, employers, and faculty, including the ability to support a diverse population effectively.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to student success and a customer-focused approach to delivering career services.
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
