Position Summary
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Community engagement and development support through heritage programming and in collaboration with internal and external partners
Program development, implementation and promotion to support the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum, the Pump House Steam Museum and Kingston City Hall National Historic Site
Liaise with colleagues, summer students, schools, educators, artists and the community to co-ordinate activities and resources to ensure the expected outcomes are met for program delivery
Plan and monitor assigned budgets for programming that includes expenses for artist fees, programs supplies, and other related expenses
Document and evaluate programs and outreach using established evaluation methodologies and complete reports as required
Deliver educational tours, guided tours, demonstrations, workshops and public programming and assist with special events and exhibits
Work with student staff and volunteers and provide training and guidance to ensure consistent, quality program delivery
Other duties as assigned, including providing support for daily operations at the two City-owned museums and City Hall National Historic Site as needed
Qualifications, Competencies
3 year degree in education, history, museum studies or related field
2 years of progressive experience in delivering cultural and/or educational programming and community cultural engagement in schools and/or community settings
Heritage, museum, customer service and audience development experience an asset
Cultural development and community engagement experience an asset
Experience scheduling and coordinating student staff and volunteers an asset
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
Ability to work independently and in a dynamic, team oriented environment
Excellent people skills and well developed oral and written communication skills
Creativity, enthusiasm and attention to detail
Ability to be innovative and to promote public education and community cultural engagement
Strong problem solving, research and evaluation skills
Knowledge of the Ontario curriculum as well as current programs and policies in community cultural development, community arts and youth engagement
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work with diverse populations, including ethno-cultural and Indigenous communities as well as underserved communities
French or other languages considered an asset
Must have own transportation and a valid "G" class driver’s licence
Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector.
