- About the roleAs ATB’s next Pension Consultant, you will oversee and provide accurate, professional, governance and administration of ATB’s management pension plans (Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution and Supplemental Retirement Plans) and the Public Service Pension Plan. This position focuses on ensuring the pension programs are administered and delivered in compliance with regulatory requirements and are integrated across program areas while aligning with overall business strategies and priorities.Accountabilities- Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accuracy of pension contributions and disbursements.
- Liaise with actuary, trustee, and APS (Alberta Pension Services) to ensure regulatory compliant pension administration.
- Work together with Payroll to respond to pension member queries, escalating complex issues to Sr. Consultant.
- Process invoices and payments related to pension plans.
- Conduct HST Reporting for Investment Managers.
- Prepare draft DB/DC Expense Report and Proposed Budget.
- Work with Payroll and DC record keeper on year-end processes, ensuring accurate data submission
- Prepare and distribute Retirement Committee evaluation survey
- Draft Annual Information Return and Fiduciary Liability Insurance Application, for review by Sr. Pension Consultant
- Review actuary/consultant's DB plan cost-of-living increase calculation and annual statements; with oversight from Sr. Pension Consultant
- Collaborate with the Sr. Pension Consultant to plan for and execute on the DC plan re-enrollment campaign
- Contribute to pension plan member education, engagement and communication, connecting with vendors and stakeholders, as appropriate
- Assist the Sr. Pension Consultant in:
- Retirement Committee preparation and follow-up
- Trust fund monitoring
- Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities (CAPSA) Self-Assessment completion
- Annual notional pension statement creation and distribution

- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Ability to team and build strong working relationships in a matrix environment
- Strong ability set priorities, manage multiple tasks, follow-up and allocate time
- Willingness to seek and share feedback
- Critical thinking and mindset to strive for continuous improvement
Technical Expertise
- Strong background in pensions, including at least 2 years of experience, with a significant emphasis on benefit and pension plan administration and policy
- Solid understanding of Google Suite and how these tools can help to create efficient processes
Accreditation
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, Organizational Behavior or related field
- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation, Pension Plan Administration Certification (PPAC) or Canadian Pension Management (CPM) designation by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP); would be an asset
