The Public and Rural Health Division protects the health of Albertans by providing strategic direction and leadership in the development of provincial policies, strategies, and standards in compliance monitoring, communicable diseases, immunization, environmental health, emergency preparedness, and health promotion. The division utilizes this function to support innovation and engage Albertans in wellness, health promotion and injury and disease prevention. The Public Health Standards and Regulations Branch is one of four in this Division, and is responsible for:
- Maintenance of departmental public health legislation, standards, guidelines, and policies that address current and emerging public health risks, with the goal of protecting Albertans in the environments in which they live and play;
- Leadership and participation in provincial food safety and enteric and zoonotic outbreak investigation and response; and
- Leadership in provincial water files and the Alberta Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Strategy.

Reporting to the Director, Policy Coordination and Engagement, within the Public Health Standards and Regulations Branch, the Manager of Strategic Planning plays a critical role in coordinating activities related to public health policy and legislation development. You will oversee the implementation of public health measures, ensuring that workflows are monitored, processes are followed, and milestones are achieved.
**Role Responsibilities**:
The Manager, Strategic Planning is responsible for:
**Leadership Support**:
- Providing leadership to ensure the timely delivery of public health legislation and policy assignments.
- Coordinating alignment of simultaneous development and implementation of legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Advising on the alignment of recommendations from engagement activities with external partners and Ministry goals.
- Participating in Secretariat support for advisory panels or committees appointed by the Minister or Division.
**Policy Development and Coordination**:
- Offering strategic options and comprehensive advice for prioritizing multiple workflows.
- Setting attainable goals and monitor workflow, establishing milestones for projects.
- Recommending revisions to the scope or schedule of ongoing assignments, as necessary. Maintaining dynamic records on the status of goals and assignments.**Implementation Plans**:
- Developing implementation plans for achieving Ministry goals related to public health.
- Articulate tasks and processes associated with assignments and establish quality and performance standards.
- Providing recommendations on implementation processes to the Director and Executive Director. Evaluating and assess processes and outcomes for continuous improvement.**Partnership Development**:
- Establishing and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate resources and partnerships to support branch activities effectively. Representing the Branch and Division on relevant committees and teams, providing expertise on public health matters.**Leadership and Team Development**:
