Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Sergeant-at-Arms department is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual for the regular full-time position of Threat Assessment Specialist.

Reporting to the Staff Sergeant, MLA Safety Program, the Threat Assessment Specialist conducts investigations of risks and threats made to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and staff of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (LABC). This position undertakes proactive planning efforts, response, analysis and management of threats.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Applicants must be/have:

- Post-secondary courses in a related field of study such as criminology, threat-risk assessment methodologies, or criminal intelligence, and a minimum of two years recent and related experience as a Threat Assessment Specialist or in an intelligence-led role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Active membership in the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, Criminal Intelligence Service of BC, National Sheriffs Association, International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, Internal Association of Court Officers and Counter Terrorism Information Officers preferred.
- Certifications and ongoing training from accredited threat assessment organizations such as the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (CATAP) and ASIS International. Preference will be given to those with the following certifications and experience:

- Certified Threat Assessment Professional (CTAP)
- Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- Experience writing briefing notes, threat assessments, risk assessments and business cases preferred.
- Experience using open-source information databases preferred.
