**The Opportunity - Plumber (AUPE Tradesman V), temporary**

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution, wastewater disposal, HVAC plants and related piping in all buildings on campus. The Plumber will install, repair and maintain plumbing and heating fixtures and systems in residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, farm or public buildings. The Plumber reads manuals, blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems.

**Key Job Functions**:

- Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components.
- Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials.
- Work in cooperation with other trades and labourers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of any project.
- Ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes
- Perform scheduled and demand maintenance on plumbing, heating systems and fixtures.
- Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met.
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded.
- Ensure that work orders are properly completed and related documentation is processed
- Work within approved budgets.
- Prepare orders of supplies in consultation with the Service Manager
- Advise and consult on the annual IMP plan and inform of any upcoming replacements
- Annually develops a capital request list as per the needs of the area

**Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required**:

- Must have Journeyman Certification in Plumbing from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution.
- Ability to obtain confined space entry certification.
- Ability to obtain first aid certification.
- Possess a Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Minimum of three to five years related work experience.
- Demonstrates excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates good time and stress management skills.
- Demonstrates good mathematical skills.
- Works well in a team environment
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Ability to adopt new technology and practices
- WHMIS and First Aid required
- Ability to follow regulations governing plumbing installs.
- Maintaining a required level of fitness including: manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 50lbs, and ability to perform repetitive physical work.
