**ABOUT WANASAH**
Wanasah is a new mental health agency created to address the urgent mental health and addictions needs of Black youth and their families through the provision of effective Black-centric mental health services in the community. Wanasah recognizes the need for inclusive, trauma-informed care with meaningful incorporation of spirituality and community voice in its programming. We work within an anti-racist, anti-Black racist and anti-oppression framework that incorporates principles of intersectionality. Wanasah is based in Regent Park, Toronto.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new organization that is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of Black youth in Toronto. The successful individual will work with a small, dedicated team to develop, evaluate and adapt an innovative model of care.
**Position Summary**
The Program Manager must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to plan and operationalize services which are Black youth and family centered, and aligned with Wanasah’s mission and vision to improve access to effective and holistic mental health services. This position is responsible for: annual planning, fiscal management, implementing, and maintaining standards of professional practice.
**Responsibilities Include**:
- Provide strong clinical and administrative leadership to an interdisciplinary team of health professionals for the day-to-day clinical and general operations of the program to ensure high quality programming, grant compliance and implementation of best practices.
- Lead program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation including contributing to grant writing/reporting and annual planning/reporting activities.
- Create a safe environment which supports creativity and innovation in the delivery of client services.
- Actively participate in the development of program budgets and manage their implementation according to set budget guidelines and grant contracts.
- Monitor the quality and effectiveness of programs and services and complete reports accurately
- Implement and promote organizational policies and procedures to ensure high professional standards of practice and provide the highest possible level of quality care for clients and their families.
- Line manage program staff, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, professional development and performance management according to organizational policies and human resource practice.
- Provide and/or ensure access to clinical supervision and support to program staff to address the complex needs of the clients served through trauma informed, evidence informed practice that meets professional practice standards.
- Create a climate of mutual support and development for staff and volunteers that supports staff/volunteer well-being.
- Develop, implement and lead Occupational Health and Safety protocols within Wanasah ensuring compliance with the OHSA, organizational policy and accreditation standards.
- Promote and represent Wanasah externally with key stakeholders/partners/community members
- Comply with Wanasah’s policies and procedures including those relating to privacy and confidentiality
- Ensure that the delivery of services is consistent with the mission and vision of Wanasah and is in accordance with funder requirements and standards and with relevant legislation
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Requirements**:
- Master’s degree in Addictions, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Occupational
- Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Nursing, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience working in a Mental Health and Addictions related
- field
- Minimum 2-3 years previous supervisory and management experience required,
- including demonstrated effectiveness with designing, planning, leading and change
- management in community mental health.
- Experience volunteering or working in the community-based organisations
- Interest in, and experience with, quality improvement and program monitoring tools
- Excellent strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Understanding and/or openness to spirituality and/or faith in providing meaningful mental health and problematic substance use/ addictions services
- Thorough understanding and commitment to anti-Black racism/ anti-racist/ anti-oppression theory and practice
- Lived experience of anti-Black racism or extensive understanding of, and commitment to, resisting anti-Black racism
